Yggdrasil | Small Fine Art Painting
Yggdrasil is mentioned in Gylfaginning and Skáldskaparmál (of the Prose Edda), and in Grímnismál and Völuspá (of the Poetic Edda). Some believe that the name of the tree can be translated to something similar to "Odin's Horse." This imagery aligns with the idea that he mounted (hung) himself on the world tree in Hávamál, sacrificing “himself to himself.” There he stayed hanging for nine days and nights until he reached down and found the wisdom that was the runes.
Material & Make
The artwork you will receive is the original piece. It was hand painted and comes on a cotton canvas stretched over a wooden frame backing.
