Shogan Triskele | Organic T-Shirt

Design

The work of Shaun Hogan is a brilliant translation of modern Nordic and Celtic design through an ancient lens of familar art styles.

His logo, a spiraling triskele, appears across the ages and continents in varying styles, each unique in their twists and turns.

The symbol of the triskele can be found in the northern isles around 5000 years ago, when it was most notably carved into Newgrange stones of Ireland. But it most definitely was not confined to this time period. It now exists as an identifying motif for the Celtic and British Isles as well as across the globe.

Many believe the three lobes represent the dimensions of life; youth, adulthood, and old age...or perhaps the land, sky, and sea. There are hundreds of ancient forms of wisdom tied to the symbol of three, unfolding and refolding upon itself in spirals.

The only thing that can be certain is that it inspires reflection upon our place in time and the spiritual realm.

For Shaun, it seems to represent the winding together of multiple art styles with which he enjoys creating.

About The Artist

Shaun Hogan is a tattooist and artist inspired by his Scottish heritage and the Channel Islands. Inhabited by Gauls, various Celtic tribes, the Romans and the Norse, the island of Jersey (in the Channel Islands) was named by the Nordic peoples and harbours an abundance of historical treasures and art forms as evidence of its occupation. The clash of cultures meeting and merging on this small but significant island has influenced his ever evolving style, and you can find his work as a tattooist reflective of this history.
