Jormungandr Pyrography Horn
Sorry, currently out of stock
Design
This one of a kind, hand-decorated horn has been designed and created exclusively for Northern Fire by Nadine from Nordurljós Art.
The design features a winding serpent to represent Jormungandr, as his great body encircles the world. The Urnes style is the last and most elegant of the Viking age art styles; known for its graceful, winding serpent motifs and elongated animal figures.
The design is first drawn freehand on to the horn, then burned completely by hand using dotwork pyrography.
The outer surface and rim are polished to a satin finish to eliminate any rough edges.
(Note: This horn is recommended for display purposes only).
Material & Make
The use of fire to manipulate natural materials is one of the most ancient forms of artistry. Pyrography has been discovered on artefacts globally such as bone, wood, leather, and even stone.
Each piece is uniquely one of a kind, having been hand worked by the artisan to compliment the dimension of the design and respect the natural grain of the wood.
All of these are A1 grade skulls (intact and undamaged, all teeth present, all oil and dirt completely removed). They are cleaned and treated with peroxide to museum quality, so they can be shipped internationally too. All are sourced ethically and legally within the UK.
