“The idea of Valkyrie’s in modern pop culture is deeply ingrained in us all, but what would they have appeared as to the warriors and peoples of the Viking age? We will never truly know, but we have a small possible glimpse of what they could have looked like from the pendants and amulets of Female Viking warrior woman at least. Wielding sword and shield marking them as fighters, they also wore the signature long dress and hair of the high woman of that time. There’s also in more recent years been depictions found of these warrior woman in men’s riding clothing too. In time I aim to explore more of these ideas through this small series of images.”
