Bronze Age Sun Horse | Fine Art Print
This artwork by Paula Cruz Art is a tribute to the great beast of the Scandinavian Bronze Age, the sun horse.
According to Bronze Age mythology, this great stallion would carry the sun through the sky throughout before passing it to the sea snake at night, with the help of several boats and a fish. The serpent would then carry our star through the ocean to the other side of the horizon, where it would be passed back across the sky for its journey through daylight again.
Bronze razors, found in plenty from this time period and region, artfully depict this tale across their blades. Paula has taken influence from one of the depictions of the horse for this print.
