Arawn, Welsh Celtic King of the Otherworld

The first Branch of stories in a book now known as “Y Mabinogion” features a character who calls himself Arawn, king of the otherworld. The story begins with a mortal prince named Pwyll, and in their initial meeting Pwyll comes across his magical red eared hounds and steals his quarry, leading him to agree to swap places places and kill his rival in the Otherworld. It’s a fascinating tale and worth knowing.

Sean Parry of Sacred Knot Tattoo created this image in a contemporary style inspired by the art forms of the Insular arts of Britain and Ireland.

Material & Make
We have chosen to recreate this design as a fine art Giclée print to maintain the best quality of colour reproduction and the results are really outstanding.

The artwork is printed on Hahnemühle German Etching paper.

As these are archival quality fine art prints please handle them with care, preferably only touching the edges and we recommend mounting them in a frame behind glass.

About The Artist

Sean Parry is the founder and main artist at Sacred Knot Tattoo. Having grown up in North Wales on a mountain peninsula called the Great Orme, his love of celtic and Norse culture, history and art fuels his tattooing and painting. He specialises in celtic and norse neo-traditional dotwork, aiming to capture the magic of knotwork and spirals that the ancient inhabitants of the North where also so fond of.
