Gaulish Candle Holder

We are really happy to share Max from Great Ash Forge's latest creation from his smithy; a candle holder inspired by the ancient Gauls of France.

The candle holder has been hand forged, inspired by a 4th Century bronze neck ring from Courtisols, Marne, France. It formed part of the La Tène art style and was know as the high point of La Tène style ornamentation

It appears that the finds at Marne were a regional variation of the style which was mostly concentrated in the Northern Rhine region but stretched even as far as Hungary.

Material & Make

This item has been hand forged in England from steel at the Great Ash Forge smithy. For anyone not familiar with the forging process, this has been created entirely with fire, a hammer and an anvil.

All Max's raw materials are sourced in the UK

As these pieces are hand made, there may be slight variations from the product picture.

Please note, candles are show for illustration purposes only and are not included with the Gaulish Candle Holder.
