This hand painted image of a Fylgja is a part of a small series by Sean Parry. In old Norse, a Fylgja is an ancestral family spirit of a sort, passed down as a guardian protector through the family line. It is not known how widespread this idea was in the ancient world, but considering a lot of people still believed in guardian angels, it must have some very, very old roots.
This 18 x 13cm (7 x 5 inches) painting is acrylic on canvas.
Sean reserves the rights to this image to be used in a publication and/or printing of all the images collectively in the future.
