Mind Trollcross | Pendant for Charity

Design

Dylan Parry from Fiendish Forge has been creating a number of pieces of existing jewellery designs for us at the Northern Fire studio and has used his skills to create a pendant to raise money for a local mental health charity.

He explains more below:

"I am proud to release this pendant in time for mental health awareness week. This is a design that has been made in collaboration with Sacred Knot Tattoo, which I am eternally grateful for. I have wanted to raise money for a mental health charity for a long time and thanks to this collaboration with Sean, I have finally been able to see that wish come true. Im forever thankful for all his input with this piece. And I hope you like it as much as we do.

I am releasing this pendant through Northern Fire, and all money raised with every sale of this pendant will be supporting a local mental health charity that has helped me through some difficult times in my life. We all know someone affected by mental illness, whether it's us, or a loved one. And without getting too personal, this is an issue I have lived with from a very young age and I am so happy and proud to be in a position where I can help others by raising money for a charity close to my heart."

The design of the pendant is based on that of a troll cross, which represents a talisman of protection and safety from evil forces. The runes along the outside of the pendant write out 'Your story isn't over yet', which goes in line with the central design of the semicolon. The semicolon is used as a symbol of strength and solidarity for those struggling with mental illness that began as Project Semicolon, (@projsemicolon on Instagram).

We have chosen to support the Conwy branch of the charity.

Here's more about them, in their words:

Conwy Mind is here to support better mental health. They are a local, independent charity that work across Conwy County providing free services to improve people’s mental health and wellbeing. They provide support calls, guided self-help programmes, counselling, community groups and hubs. They are committed to working with the community to challenge stigma and discrimination associated with mental health, the delivery of inclusive services are accessible to everyone who needs them, ensuring no one has to face a mental health issue alone.

Conwy Mind want to be able to help as many as possible because mental health issues affect us all. Whether it’s you, someone in your family, a friend, a colleague, a neighbour or a classmate, the impact can be really hard to manage. If you, or someone you know needs support then please get in touch with the team at Conwy Mind: 01492 879907 or info@conwymind.org.uk

If you are living outside the Conwy area, Mind can still help you at a branch closer to your home: 0300 123 3393 or info@mind.org.uk.

Material & Make

Each piece of jewellery has been polished to a shining finish by a Northern Fire artisan in our workshop in Wales, where we also craft our moulds and hand cast each piece. Our pewter is sourced from Cornwall and has been chosen for its flexibility and shine.

This pendant will come with an adjustable cotton cord.

About The Artist

Sean Parry is the owner and lead artist of Sacred Knot Tattoo, as well as a founding member of the Northern Fire Art Collective. He specialises in Celtic and Nordic arts and lives and works from his hometown of Llandudno in North Wales. Sean’s projects incorporate knotwork, swirls, and beasts inspired and mirroring those found in the historical record - a reflection of his passion for archaeology and ancient iconography. Though he is well known for his mastery as a tattooist, his work with paint, leather, and precious metals are also part of his artistic endeavours.

Dylan Parry (who has no direct relation to Sean, though they share a last name) has been crafting and metalworking for Northern Fire since he helped us set up our new studio this past summer. His passion does not exceed his talents, and he has become an avid metalworker in silver, bronze, and pewter.

Every pendant you receive will have been hand cast and polished to a finish by Dylan, whose heart is so close to this collaboration with Conwy Mind.
