Draugr | Hand Forged Iron Sculpture

Design

The latest creation from Great Ash Forge was inspired by the mystical Draugr.

The Draugr are known throughout the mythology and folklore of Nordic countries as creatures who live on after death. Similarities exist between Draugr and the modern day concept of zombies, but rather than shambling around groaning, they had some form of intelligence and seemed intent on killing man and beast.

The Draugr will often guard hoards of treasure or rise to hunt down those who have wronged them in life and it is said they appear from the grave in a wisp of smoke, with the scent of death. In literature, it is said there is a difference between land and sea Draug’s but many seem to agree that Draugr are able to increase their size and have incredible strength. In the Eyrbyggja saga, the Draugr or Thorolf grew to the size of an ox, and any birds that landed on his grave died instantly.

Choose between the standalone figure or the figure with its own helmet.

Material & Make

This item has been hand forged in England from steel at the Great Ash Forge Smithy. For anyone unfamiliar with the forging process, this has been created entirely with fire, a hammer and an anvil. Although quite small, this piece took great effort and time to create.

All of Max's raw materials are sourced in the UK.

Because these pieces are hand made, there may be slight variations from the image above.
