Arawn, Welsh King of the Otherworld | Wall Hanging

Design

A story from the first branch of “Y Mabinogion” features a character who calls himself Arawn, King of the Otherworld. The tale begins with a mortal prince named Pwyll. In their initial meeting, Pwyll comes across Arawn's magical red eared hounds and steals his quarry, leading him to have to swap places places with the king and kill his rival in the Otherworld. It’s a fascinating tale and worth knowing.

Sean created this image in a contemporary style inspired by the art forms of the Insular arts of Britain and Ireland.

This design by Sacred Knot Tattoo explores this style and can be used for many purposes around the home including as a wall hanging, table runner, or even as a tea towel.

Material & Make

Our wall hangings are made from durable 100% cotton canvas and the edges are finished with a lock stitch in our workshop in Wales, where they are hand printed by Northern Fire artists. Our inks are water based and locally sourced to minimise the negative impact of the textile industry on the environment. You can read more about our sustainability aims on our environmental page.
